Are You Aware of How to Attend to Your Spiritual Needs?

With our busy lives and To-Do lists, we are struggling to be consistent with tapping into our Life Source.

I started the year full of excitement and enthusiasm about the plans for this season. But God has a different agenda. He is saying, “Attend to your spiritual needs. Be consistent and know that I am your life source. If you are looking for the power to create change then you must start and stay with Me.”

I thought I was on a great track and doing this but obviously, I am not. When you feel like you are out of alignment or that things are off, then more times than not, you are. I have been experiencing a feeling of being off balance, however, I keep on with my day-to-day. This is not acceptable behavior. Each time I recognize I am no longer flowing properly, I ask the Lord for forgiveness, His blueprint to get back on track, and reframe my thinking.

Our spiritual needs are vital for a healthy and prosperous Kingdom lifestyle.

My Thought Process

Lately, I have been blaming everything on my hormones. For those of you that are going through perimenopause, or know someone that is, or is married to someone that may be, then you know that each day is different for them.

A few things I have to be aware and ask myself is

  • Is this perimenopause?
  • Lord, is that You?
  • Or What’s really going on, I think these are my thoughts?

Key: Learn how to distinguish between your emotions and spiritual gifts. Ask the Lord for discernment.

I am grateful to serve a wonderful Savior who allows me a moment, but quickly makes me aware of my drifting and gets me back on course.

Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ. 2 Corinthians 10:5 KJV

Nevertheless

Despite all of the emotional rollercoasters, we may experience daily, the Lord wants us to focus on one major self-care component. And that is attending to our spiritual needs. Regardless of what is going on in our lives, our Life Source is Him. We need Him in every area of our lives. There is nothing we can do without Him. When we take time each day to pray, read the word, meditate and connect to the Father, we are refreshed, and renewed, and can walk in complete wholeness.

Nevertheless, I will bring health and healing to it; I will heal my people and will let them enjoy abundant peace and security. Jeremiah 33:6

Staying the Course

Have you ever asked yourself, “What is the purpose of obtaining everything I desire, if my life in Christ is not solid?”

If you have pondered this question or a question similar then you know that it is imperative to have a strong spiritual foundation.

There are various things I want to focus on this year and even write more blog posts about marriage, entrepreneurship, travel, etc. However, the release to do so has to be at God’s prompting and direction. I understand I have to stay the course and attend to my spiritual needs daily.

The Lord is directing us to stay focused, diligent, and humble. Albeit it can be challenging, let’s try hard not to scream, cry or throw a temper tantrum. (This doesn’t get the Father’s attention anyway…) Now is a great time to create your intervention and plan to make God top priority. This is an essential self-care life component.

Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Galatians 6:9

Spiritual Needs Assessment

We are a spirit that has a soul and lives in a body. That’s why the Lord wants us to prioritize the things of our spirit.

For physical training is of some value, but godliness has value for all things, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come. 1 Timothy 4:8

When God directs us to examine ourselves, this to me entails conducting a spiritual foundational assessment of my life and ways to grow in the word of God.

Examine yourselves to see whether you are in the faith; test yourselves. Do you not realize that Christ Jesus is in you—unless, of course, you fail the test? 2 Corinthians 13:5

Spiritual Self-Care

Being spiritually fit is a must in our daily spiritual care as Kingdom citizens. Paying attention to how you are feeling is part of embracing your connection with God. The Bible is our resource for receiving what we need to draw closer to the Lord and attend to our spiritual growth.

So what are some ways to attend to your spiritual needs:

  1. Ask God for the grace that empowers you to keep His word.
  2. Prioritize your day and life commitments.
  3. Pray and worship Him daily.
  4. Be consistent.
  5. Embrace your time with the Father.
  6. Write out one of your most read scriptures at least 3 times. Meditate on it. Repeat.
  7. Have faith in God. Say this out loud. “I have faith in God.”
  8. Be effective and intentional when it comes to learning the word.
  9. Operate with integrity.
  10. Forgive

If you are not where you want to be or feel that you should be spiritually fit in this stage of your life, don’t be ashamed or hard on yourself. We have the Holy Spirit who is our Helper and guide to learn the scriptures and bring things to our remembrance. God is our Life and our Source. He wants to help us in every way and area of our lives. And watch us grow spiritually.

You are strong and a winner!
