Meeting the King

Meeting the King! What does meeting the King mean to you? For me, I have a perspective on several different interpretations. The first is standing before Him in heaven. Second, salvation or deliverance from sin and its consequences. And third, seeking the kingdom of God above all else.

The latter is resonating today. Seeking the Kingdom of God above all else; and spending time with the King.

"But seek ye first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness; and all of these things shall be added unto you." Matthew 6:33

Interacting with a king.

As a westerner, I do not have any experience with interacting with or going before an earthly king. Nor, do I know anything about a kingdom and its formalities.

In the United States, we have a president which is a different protocol altogether. A presidential candidate must receive votes by having an election and has a term to fulfill. A king is not voted into an office. He is born a king and has rights to the throne. When observing the traditional forms of meeting a royal family, a man may bow his head and a woman may do a small curtsy. Each family member has a different role and there is a way to enter the courts.

Going before the king.

Have you ever thought about what it would be like to show up at the royal palace, empty-handed, and say, “I was in town and thought I’d stop by and meet the royal family?” Well, I am here to tell you, that you will not get in.

When reading passages in the Old Testament of the Bible, you read instances when those that wanted to meet with the king, had to prepare. Going before the king uninvited or in an informal manner could be death. And presenting gifts were necessary.

The King of kings.

If you are like me and did not grow up in a country with exposure to a kingdom and royal family, then we must learn how to present ourselves when entering into the King’s presence.

We have a mighty powerful King. He is the King of kings. There is no comparison to Him. He deserves all the honor and praise. He reigns forevermore. And He desires to have a relationship and fellowship with us. We are always welcome to go before our King.

Time with the King.

So, let’s look at how we can go before our heavenly King.

DAYBREAK.

And he shall be as the light of the morning, when the sun riseth, even a morning without clouds; as the tender grass springing out of the earth by clear shining after rain. 2 Samuel 23:4

Before your day gets started, don’t just hop out of bed and not say anything to the Lord. Address the King. Say, Good morning Father. Good morning Jesus. Good morning Holy Spirit.

GIFTS

Matthew 2:11 says “…and when they had opened their treasures, they presented gifts to Him: gold, frankincense, and myrrh.”

Monetary gifts help build and are necessary to any organization. Tithing time and talents can be received as well.  With 24 hours of the day, 2.4 hours can be sowed.

THANKSGIVING AND PRAISE

“Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, And into His courts with praise. Be thankful to Him, and bless His name.” Psalm 100:4

We thank You Lord and praise Your Holy name. Extending a thank you to God and to others shows gratitude and expresses appreciation.

BOW DOWN AND WORSHIP

Psalm 95:6 says “Come, let us bow down in worship, let us kneel before the LORD our Maker”.

Show respect the the Creator

MEDITATE

“But his delight is in the law of the Lord, And in His law he meditates day and night.” Psalm 1:2

Be still. Be quiet. Focus on a scripture or the goodness of the Great I AM.

FASTING

Isaiah 58:6 “Is not this the fast that I choose: to loose the bonds of wickedness, to undo the straps of the yoke, to let the oppressed go free, and to break every yoke?”

Fasting strengthens our faith and helps us to focus. It allows us to study the word of God, listen to His leading and devote time to Him.

PRAY

Meeting and spending time with God is precious. It is a delight to be in His presence. Be ever so grateful that He allows us to enter His courts and that we can go before Him anytime, day or night.

Our prayers have creative power. Praying is talking to the Lord. Talk to Him in the morning, at night, in your car, while you are out for a walk or even while laying down on the floor looking up at the ceiling. It doesn’t matter. He is here to listen and say at the end of the conversation, until we meet again…
